Azi, zt”l lining up the pebbles just so after collecting them at the beach.

Cheshvan. Water. Opportunity. In Elul we set goals. In Tishrei we commit to those goals. In Cheshvan we have the opportunity to begin reaching those goals. The first law of physics says an object in motion stays in motion. But, first we must set something in motion. Azi zt”l loved to build. He would make tall block towers or long lines of dominoes or floor-tp-ceiling lego structures. He built using one block at a time. He would patiently build or align or stack, one at a time.

Cheshvan is your time to build yourself! Time to take a small step and then another. You have a goal. Now choose one tiny step, one small act you can do today. Take that act, your pebble, and throw it into the water. See the ripples. you will create just by doing that one small step every day. The ripples will get larger and larger. Every time you do that act the ripple of energy will get stronger inside of you. One tiny act, one micromitzvah. Every day. Do it today and then congratulate your self! Keep rippling, keep acting. Stay small and steady. You can do it!
